How Veterans Can Access In-Home Care Benefits

We guide veterans and families through each step of the process to help ensure timely access to care.

1. Confirm VA Health Care Enrollment

Veterans must be enrolled in VA health care before in-home services can be approved. Enrollment is the first step toward accessing supported care options.

2. Meet With Your VA Care Team

A VA primary care provider, case manager, or social worker will evaluate care needs and determine eligibility for services such as:

  • Homemaker/Home Health Aide (HHA) services
  • Respite care for caregivers

These services are intended to help veterans safely remain at home.

3. Receive a Community Care Referral

If approved, the VA will issue a referral to a community care provider.
Ability In-Home Care is an approved provider and supports veterans through both state and federal programs, including Community Care, Home Health Aid and Respite.

FAQ: Does Ability In-Home Care work with veterans’ benefits?
Yes. We work with both state and federal veteran programs and assist with eligibility guidance and required steps.

4. Schedule Your Care Services

Once authorization is received, veterans or family members may schedule services with Ability In-Home Care.

Your authorization will outline:

  • Approved services

  • Length of care

  • Follow-up and reporting requirements

FAQ: Is an in-home consultation available?
Yes. We provide a complimentary in-home consultation to assess needs and develop a personalized care plan.
